I know this will vary per person, but a estimate on this would help determine whether people have time to take the course. Thank you!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8152901575140311047.post-50292061087494320032017-07-21T15:56:46.449-04:002017-07-21T15:56:46.449-04:00Having taken two of your free online classes I lik...Having taken two of your free online classes I like to comment about your three items of the imperfection of online classes. Combining your two imperfections of: No personal touch and No interaction: the online student must keep in mind the word is FREE online class - so any imperfection I have is very very minor. I computed for a student to show up to see you in person the tuition and fees cost $5,000+. Your third point of: Tough to stay disciplined – this is human nature and no system should be set up to control such.

In my perfect world I would pay $200.00 +/- for 2 hours of accumulated internet chat help on specific math equation or help on understanding some power point slides.I see the Certificate program provides for this with Webex. I also see in the Certificate program you are going to teach in a Studio-shot format. I say-waste of money–but it is probably fun and motivating for you. The Free videos I saw were more than good enough.

In conclusion the online class charge at $200 for chat help is a good price. The $700.00 Certificate not so much. I do thank the 300+ that pay $5,000. The era of Free Online is over please pay $700.00.Snap1529https://www.blogger.com/profile/06321477693503751897noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8152901575140311047.post-67300626620733903672017-07-21T03:43:16.925-04:002017-07-21T03:43:16.925-04:00Hi Prof, thanks for your sharing your view on this...Hi Prof, thanks for your sharing your view on this topic.

I strongly agree that online education's lack of personal touch and interaction are strong shortcomings, but I still believe that online education will have a very important role to play in the future world.

Since the goal of education is to improve one's intelligence and hence higher productivity, having more personal touches and interactions, in many cases, may not actually add a lot of value to achieving such goal.

Just like singers before voice-recording tech was invented, they can only make a living from live performance. With recording tech in place, their performance can be enormously scaled through radio/cassettes/CDs/MP3/Spotify playing. The same logic doesn't seem to apply to the education world thus far.

The internet could allow lectures/teachings to reach their audiences in a gigantic way (creating much much more highly productive individuals), thereby reducing education costs enormously, but it didn't happen largely due to the sticky needs of getting a certifiable qualification. Hence, there is no incentive for education institutions to promote online education.

To put it into perspective, a non-graduate in his/her early 20s today may be able to match the intelligence/productivity of a '90s-class graduate by only reading Wikipedia, but no one will hire him/her. The recruitment world should reform their thinking in qualifying their candidates, else we will forever be stuck in the offline education.

P/S: Actually, people can interact in online classes nowadays as live videos are becoming the IN thing. With one lecturer and a moderator, the online classes can be very interactive and may reach thousands/millions of people simultaneously. Of course, this is a totally different approach compared to one-to-one/small groups teaching.Fung C.F.noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8152901575140311047.post-8092056317017136252017-07-21T02:03:47.619-04:002017-07-21T02:03:47.619-04:00Dear Sir,

I had a similar thought regarding point 3(Tough to stay disciplined). Can this principle be applied for companies such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video as well ? For instance, since everything is available online, the consumer no longer " looks forward to watching the new episode/show". He can always watch it at his convenience. This could result in a form of complacency which will eventually make him lose interest in using the app/program. AdityaBnoreply@blogger.com
